In 2016, the Federal government amended the Fair Labor Standards Act and increased the salary thresholds for non-exempt employee to be eligible for overtime compensation to $47,476/annually, or $913/week. This change goes into effect on December 1, 2016.
This change is expected to impact up to 5-6 million employees nationwide. At UO, this change will impact some individuals who have had exempt status in the past, have not been obligated to record their working hours, and who have not been paid overtime for hours worked over 40 hours a week.
