We considered the Barr decision definition of “timely” in terms of closing out deviations within 30
days. If it is not possible to do it within 30 days, then it would be wise to write an interim report. It
depends on the issue and the urgency or the health implications of what’s timely. If it’s a situation
with potential health implications for patients down the line, then “timely” is certainly faster than
30 days. If the situation involves a complicated corrective action, maybe it’ll take more than 30
days. But you need to think about it in those terms.
