Yes, if your material can be evaluated, and if that evaluation shows the material is expected to
remain suitable for a period of time, a new retest date can be assigned. This isn’t intended as a
substitute for a good material management system, and so there probably comes a point where
there’s concern about continuously extending retest dates. If you are the API manufacturer and
you are extending retest dates, you need to extend the retention period for the batch records as
well.
