It depends. The first question you need to ask yourself is why was the material returned? Was it
returned because they simply purchased too much or was it returned because there was
something that did not meet your specification? The second question you’ve got to ask yourself is
even if it was perfectly good material that met all specifications, was it opened in your customer’s
facility, and under what conditions was it opened? Has it been subjected to other contaminations
while it’s been outside of your hands? Unfortunately, there is no one simple answer because
there are a lot of circumstances that have to be taken into account. Another important issue is
whether reprocessing or reworking needed? There is a difference between the two.
