The MDSAP Pilot, designed to confirm the proof-of-concept, was launched on January 1, 2014 and will run through to the end of calendar year 2016. Full implementation of the MDSAP is anticipated in 2017. Upon the launch of the full MDSAP, medical device manufacturers can expect to satisfy requirements of participating RAs with a single audit. It is worth noting that it will be mandatory for all Canadian Medical Devices Conformity Assessment System (CMDCAS) certificate holders to transition to MDSAP prior to January 1, 2019.
