Are there differences in entrapment risks among horizontal, vertical, and split side rails?

If the rail presents too large an opening or gap, regardless of its configuration, then it presents an entrapment risk as defined in the HBSW/FDA guidance document “Hospital Bed System Dimensional and Assessment Guidance to Reduce Entrapment.”
