The importance of accurately and dynamically managing your Cancer Center’s scientific infrastructure – via membership, publications, and research funding – cannot be understated. Historically, many centers have needed to manage these data and interactions manually, with home-grown applications. In many cases, this has been done using excel or access databases with manual searches from PubMed contributing publication information. Centers have also experienced challenges accessing campus-level grants information for purposes of reporting research funding in Data Table 2. Fortunately, commercial systems have recently come onto the market to help Cancer Centers accurately and efficiently manage their membership, publications and research funding in a near real-time setting. One such technology, called EVAL, is newly available from Forte. One of the best aspects of EVAL is that it has been designed specifically to manage these needs for Cancer Centers and CTSA Members. In fact, development is ongoing effort through a collaboration including several Cancer Centers.
