In July 2018, the foodallergy.org website debuted the FARE Clinical Trial Finder. This online tool simplifies your search for clinical trials to treat food allergy and some related conditions. You can search for studies by type of allergy, geographic location, and other characteristics.
Two additional websites that list clinical trials are www.clinicaltrials.gov, sponsored by the NIH, and www.centerwatch.com.
Another evolving clinical trial resource is the FARE Patient Registry, which was launched by FARE in May 2017 with the goal of advancing our scientific understanding of food allergies. When you register, you will be asked detailed questions about your personal experiences as a food allergy patient. The information provided by patients will be organized into a searchable database that will be made available to registered researchers, while keeping secure the identity and privacy of all participants. This patient data will be studied to assess how food allergies affect individuals and families and to promote the creation of clinical trials needed to advance new treatments.
The FARE Patient Registry will serve as a recruitment database to help patients and researchers achieve their respective goals in clinical trial enrollment. As the registry grows it will become a useful tool allowing investigators at institutions nationwide to connect with patients who want to participate in food allergy clinical trials and studies. Your participation in this registry and, potentially, in clinical trials could help the community accelerate that process considerably.
