Yes, we did have investigators in the mix. For us, having a couple of different investigators involved really helped. We wanted to make sure we had a champion in all of the different work groups, including the Financials, Department Administration, Regulatory, Clinical and Contracting work groups. Having an investigator who was able to explain the benefit of what we were doing to their peers is well worth the amount of work necessary to get that investigator in different meetings.
One of the things that can be a struggle when attempting to clean your data and build a solid framework is gaining buy-in from individuals who aren’t looking at the bigger picture of how this will benefit processes as a whole. If you make a decision that what you’re building is going to become the new source of truth in the CTMS, ensure that you have buy-in from those investigator champions to communicate the benefits. They are the ones that are going to answer those pesky questions like ‘who decided it’s going to be this way for data quality?’
